About Dave

Thank you for your interest in my photography. I have had a lifelong love affair with the photographic image and appreciate the creativity my clients have allowed me.

I started my professional career as a newspaper photojournalist in Southern California, working for a biweekly newspaper. It couldn't have been better timing as the San Diego Padres made the World Series and I photographed several of the home games from field level.

In 1985 I began working as a staff photographer for the San Diego Union Tribune. I covered a wide range of news and sports assignments and found a specialty in food and fashion photography while working for the newspaper's feature section. I had the great fortune to meet and photograph many celebrities and leaders such as President Jimmy Carter, President Ronald Reagan, Jesse Jackson, Anne Rice, Jacques Pepin, Julie Child, Wolfgang Puck, Vanna White, Raquel Welch and many others.

In 1993 I left the journalism world to start my own studio in Carlsbad, California. I specialize in assignment and wedding photography. I photograph weddings with a day in the life, storytelling style of photography.

In addition to wedding and portrait work, I am called on to photograph a wide variety of assignments for corporate and editorial clients including San Diego State University School of Business, Kaiser Hospitals, Children's Hospital Charity Ball, American Mortgage Network, Bertrand at Mister A's and others both in the Southern California region and local San Diego area.

I work primarily with digital photography and am excited about the possibilities this technology has created for photographers. For my wedding couples I create unique, personalized collage style album designs to create a true day in the life memory of each wedding. For my corporate and event clients I am able to offer rapid turnaround and easily accessible images for display, advertising and public releations use.
